Peach Fuzz Debuts As Pantone’s Color of the Year 2024
Meet Pantone’s Color Of The Year 2024, 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, a velvety, gentle peach hue nestled between pink and orange whose all-embracing spirit aims to enrich the heart, body and mind. In the hustle and bustle of modern life, this peachy shade encourages us to examine our priorities and focus on the importance of community.
“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says in a statement. “It’s a shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”
Unlike 2023’s 18-1750 Viva Magenta, which encouraged fearlessness or 2020’s 19-4052 Classic Blue, which represented stability in a time of uncertainty, 13-1023 Peach Fuzz leans into coziness and comfortability, channeling themes of nostalgia and quiet sophistication. The warm color asks us to reframe how we live and use those learnings to build a brighter future.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Pantone Color of the Year program, which started in 1999 with the introduction of 15-4020 Cerulean Blue. Over the decades, the program’s impact has been felt not only in the A&D industry, but also across fashion, product, multimedia design and color cosmetics.
“As we celebrate the 25th year of our Pantone Color of the Year program and the fundamental role color plays in our shared human experience, it is our hope that we have inspired you to look at color in a different way,” Laurie Pressman, vice president of Pantone Color Institute, reflects. “That color and its connection to emotion and the expression of human feelings will take on a new significance, causing your eye to linger a little longer throughout the day on the tints and tones that surround you, as history unfolds from moment to moment.”
Relating to interiors, Pantone recommends using the hue on a wall or surface to create a welcoming atmosphere, or to act as an accent within patterns. Overall, this nurturing tone invites us to seek comfort and reimagine our future as we get ready to ring in 2024.
